The Yard Area Manager is responsible for managing yard operations in coordination with Dock, Receive and Ship teams to ensure FIFO processing and mitigate CX impact risks. One of the main responsibilities in this role is to standardize and improve processes; while analysing and eliminating root cause of defects within the current systems. This job will require exceptional communication skills and the ability to influence change at a local (facility) and global level.

- Analyzing and implementing changes to continuously ensure high quality and productivity •
- Overseeing projects for process streamlining, productivity optimization, and improvement of service quality for customers in your area of responsibility •
- Analyzing shifts according to company guidelines and implementing measures to improve our operational excellence •
- Collaborating with colleagues at management level to standardize shift procedures
A day in the life
You work in shift operations at one of our locations and ensure that the processes there are as productive as possible. The focus of your work is leading and promoting a safety culture as well as maintaining the quality and performance standards of the work shifts. You also oversee process improvements in your area and organize their implementation. A typical workday can look quite different and includes both routine team management and daily operational tasks as well as process improvement and far-reaching operational tasks for contingencies. You also act as a role model and mentor for new managers.
An ideal candidate has a background in transportation operations and has excellent program management skills. He/she has the ability to lead and mentor people; analyse data and make sound recommendations in an often ambiguous environment.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience in a leadership role
- Experience working and communicating with multiple stakeholders, C-level executives and cross-functional teams
- Experience using data to influence business decisions
- Experience in English-language communication skills, both written and verbal
- Speak, write, and read fluently in German
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Six-Sigma or equivalent certification
- Knowledge of Kaizen and Lean methodology techniques
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Experience using Microsoft Excel
- Experience with lean methodologies
