Executive Editor (m/f/d) - Maternity cover (Chefredakteur/in)

Tasks

• Management of legal journals: desk reviews, editing, formatting and typesetting of manuscripts; liaising with authors, reviewers and editorial team; planning content, setting and adhering to production deadlines.
• Keeping abreast of developments in relevant legal and policy areas; pro-actively curating the journals to reflect interesting developments in the focus areas.
• Creating and implementing outreach and business development initiatives to increase the visibility of the journals (in conjunction with Lexxion's marketing team).
• Developing ideas for and supporting the planning of trainings and conferences with our conference managers.

Requirements

• Strong interest in European and international law and policy.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in EU law/affairs, international law/affairs or related fields.
• 1+ years of prior professional experience.
• Excellent planning, management and interpersonal skills.
• Comfortable interacting with high-level professionals and experts.
• Demonstrates meticulous attention to detail coupled with strategic, big-picture thinking.
• A background in the specific journal topics is an advantage, but not a requirement.
• Previous experience in the publishing sector will be highly valued.
• Excellent written and spoken English (native speaker or equivalent). Some German language skills would be helpful for everyday exchange with colleagues, but are not a must

We are looking for a full-time Executive Editor (m/f/d) to join our editorial team, starting 1 January 2027. This is a 1-year fixed-term position to provide maternity cover. The Editor will be in charge of Lexxion’s portfolio of publications in the fields of AI law, data protection law and food law.
