Head of Business Strategy (m/f/d)

As Head of Business Strategy, you will serve as a key architect of ProBioGen's long-term growth. Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the Executive Team, you will work at the intersection of scientific innovation, corporate development, and commercial execution. You will be responsible for identifying market trends, evaluating expansion opportunities — both organic and bolt-on — and ensuring our service offerings align with the evolving needs of the global biotech landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Corporate & Growth Strategy: Lead the preparation and execution of ProBioGen's 3-to-5-year strategic roadmap to drive revenue growth and corporate development. Identify strategic initiatives, translate executive priorities into workstreams, and monitor implementation.
  • M&A and Partnerships: Evaluate strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and potential M&A opportunities. Lead business case development, scientific & commercial due diligence, and integration planning.
  • Market Intelligence: Monitor and analyze macroeconomic trends, competitor capabilities, the biotech financing landscape, and market trends in biopharma to proactively identify new growth drivers.
  • Cross-functional Strategic Initiatives: Partner with R&D and Business Development to identify and build business cases for new services and technologies; oversee implementation across functions.
  • Capacity Planning & Organizational Development: Together with the Executive Team, define the footprint and organizational capabilities necessary to deliver on ProBioGen's growth strategy.

Must-haves

  • Master's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Medicine, Business or a related field. A PhD is a plus but not required if equivalent depth of expertise is demonstrated through professional experience.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in the biotech or pharma sector, including at least 5 years in corporate development, business strategy, or top-tier strategy consulting with a Life Sciences focus.
  • Strong understanding of the drug development lifecycle, manufacturing modalities, and the CDMO outsourcing paradigm.
  • Analytical capability: Proven analytical thinking and data-driven problem-solving skills, including market analysis and strategic marketing.
  • Proven ability to influence executive stakeholders and articulate complex strategic concepts clearly and decision-oriented. Experience working in cross-functional and international teams. Business-fluent English required; German is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Direct CDMO experience or experience with cell and gene therapy modalities
  • Hands-on M&A transaction experience (buy-side or sell-side)
  • Experience in a privately held or mid-sized company within a larger corporate group structure
