Python Developer (m/f/d)

With operations spanning multiple European energy markets, this high-performing team combines deep industry expertise with cutting-edge technology to maximize the value of renewable assets while supporting the transition to a cleaner, more stable energy system. As the business continues to grow, they're looking for a Backend Developer (Python) to help build the data integration platform at the heart of their trading and portfolio management operations.
What You'll Be Doing
- Designing and developing scalable backend services using Python and FastAPI
- Building robust APIs following OpenAPI standards
- Developing data integration services across multiple European markets
- Creating reliable data pipelines and event-driven workflows
- Analysing and validating large datasets to ensure accuracy and performance
- Working with PostgreSQL, SQLAlchemy, Alembic and Pandas
- Collaborating with engineers, traders and commercial teams to deliver high-impact solutions
- Writing clean, well-tested, maintainable code within a modern engineering environment
What We're Looking For
- 2-4 years' experience developing backend applications with Python
- Strong SQL and database design skills (PostgreSQL preferred)
- Experience with FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Pydantic and Alembic
- Experience using Pandas for data analysis
- Excellent communication skills and fluent English
- Fluent German A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline
- A proactive mindset with a genuine desire to learn and solve complex problems
Nice to Have
- Experience with Temporal, Airflow, Prefect or similar orchestration tools
- Docker and CI/CD experience Kafka, Redis or other messaging technologies
- Experience building integration platforms or real-time data systems
- Exposure to energy trading or electricity markets (helpful but not essential)

The Opportunity This is far more than a traditional backend development role. You'll design and build the APIs, services and data pipelines that connect market data providers, counterparties and internal trading systems across Europe. Alongside software engineering, you'll also work directly with data -validating, analysing and improving the quality of information that drives real-time commercial decisions.
