Working Student QA (Hardware & Driver Testing) (m/w/d)

Your tasks

  • Support the setup, execution, and documentation of hardware and driver tests for Utimaco products.
  • Test hardware-related software components and drivers across multiple operating systems, such as Linux, Windows, and other relevant environments.
  • Assist in validating the interaction between hardware, firmware, drivers, and operating systems.
  • Support debugging and root-cause analysis of hardware, driver, and system-level issues.
  • Use lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and similar measurement devices to support testing and investigation activities.
  • Assist with PCB-level analysis, basic circuit-level tasks, and review of hardware behavior during testing.
  • Carry out soldering, rework, and preparation of electronic assemblies as required.
  • Support hardware development, prototyping, and validation activities.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining test setups, test documentation, lab measurements, and validation reports.
  • Work closely with QA Engineers, Hardware Engineers, Software Developers, and other technical teams to identify issues and improve product quality.
  • Contribute to making hardware and driver testing more structured, repeatable, and visible within the engineering process.

You are currently studying Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

  • You have a basic understanding of hardware development, electronics, PCB design, or circuit-level concepts.
  • You are interested in hardware testing, driver testing, embedded systems, operating systems, and technical problem solving.
  • You have basic hands-on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, or similar devices.
  • You are comfortable performing soldering or are willing to further develop your soldering and electronics rework skills.
  • Basic knowledge of PCB designs, electronic components, and hardware debugging is desirable.
  • Familiarity with Linux, Windows, device drivers, firmware, scripting, or test automation is a plus.
  • Basic programming or scripting knowledge is desirable, for example Python, Bash, C, C++, or similar.
  • Experience with 3D printing, prototyping, or mechanical enclosures is a plus.
  • You are structured, careful, curious, analytical, and willing to learn.
  • You enjoy working hands-on with hardware, test setups, measurements, and technical systems.
  • You are comfortable communicating in English in an international team.
