GNC/AOCS Engineer (m/f/d)

  • Develop and implement GNC/AOCS algorithms for satellite missions, including attitude and orbit control as well as rendezvous and proximity operations
  • Model and analyse satellite dynamics, actuators, sensors and control systems
  • Design GNC/AOCS concepts, operational modes and fault detection, isolation and recovery strategies
  • Verify and validate algorithms using model-in-the-loop, software-in-the-loop and real-time test environments
  • Support qualification-level testing and the preparation of flight-ready software components
  • Generate embedded software using auto-coding tools and perform subsequent review and manual refinement where required
  • Contribute to technical studies, customer projects and internal product development
  • Prepare and review technical documentation
  • Participate in technical discussions, reviews and project meetings with customers and partners

Essential Qualifications

  • A university degree in aerospace engineering, control engineering, cybernetics or a comparable field
  • Strong knowledge of control engineering, including classical control methods
  • Experience in mathematical modelling and analysis of dynamic systems
  • A sound understanding of satellite dynamics and GNC/AOCS systems
  • Good knowledge of MATLAB and Simulink
  • Good written and spoken English; German language skills are an advantage
  • A structured, analytical and hands-on approach to engineering work
  • Eligibility to work with export-controlled technical information and, if required in the future, to undergo a German personnel security clearance (Sicherheitsüberprüfung, SÜG), which can depend on nationality and residence history

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas would be an advantage:
  • Robust, optimal or model-based control methods
  • Orbital mechanics and relative orbital dynamics
  • Rendezvous and proximity operations
  • GNC/AOCS architecture and FDIR design
  • Embedded or flight software development
  • Auto-coding using Simulink Coder, Embedded Coder or dSPACE TargetLink
  • Model-in-the-loop, software-in-the-loop, processor-in-the-loop or hardware-in-the-loop testing
  • Space engineering standards and flight-software qualification processes
